M.TECH THESIS

Enhanced Grey Wolf Optimization for Global Optimization: August 2015 - May 2016

D.A.V. University, Supervisor: Dr. Sankalap Arora

Enhanced Grey Wolf Optimization (EGWO) algorithm is proposed with the introduction of amendments in the hunting mechanism as well as in a parameter of the existing GWO algorithm.

  • The EGWO algorithm is validated using twenty-five standard test bed benchmark functions.
  • To validate its effectiveness, a penalty function is consolidated, and diverse experiments are executed on different constrained benchmark functions.
  • Additionally, it is applied to a real-world application of range-based node localization in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN).

EGWO algorithm has outperformed other standard metaheuristic optimization algorithms in terms of finding optimal solutions. It also highlighted its effectiveness by localizing nodes with optimal locations, achieving maximum localization accuracy, and minimizing mean square localization error.
